Have you ever played Minecraft on an M1 Mac

Looking at the reviews for the new Macs, especially the MacBook Pro, I'm very interested in switching from my Surface Pro 4 to a Mac. I was a Mac user during the Snow Leopard to Mavericks days. However I switched to Windows some time ago.
I have many programs that which I've heard are compatible on M1, but do you know whether Minecraft (Java) is compatible on an M1 Mac. It's my most played game and I don't believe I could replace my computer with one that does not support it. I know Java exists for ARM but I haven't heard of anyone playing Minecraft on an M! Mac at this point!

Highly recommend it. The M1 Mac will blow your surface out of the water performance wise. It is only an issue of time until Minecraft is optimized for the M1. You can run both versions until then. Bedrock (because M1's are able to run natively apps for iOS and iPadOS now), AND Java (translated in real-time running Rosetta 2 which is built in. There is no noticeable difference).
I have side loaded Minecraft to my M1 Mac but keyboard and mouse don't work. How did you side load it, sir?

Information from the video: Java is not a native M1 application, so it has to use Rosetta 2 emulation.
He compared the Baseline 7 core GPU MacBook Air to the Baseline8-core GPU MacBook Pro. The MBP produced the world (same seed on both) like a second faster however the MacBook Air seemed to be receiving a little better FPS for whatever reason (he used the same graphics settings on both).
The issue with this review is that he had Vsync running, so the FPS is capped at 60 FPS. It would have been interesting see how high it can really go.

The iOS, Android, and Windows 10 Minecraft versions all work well together. However the Pocket Edition Realms server will not allow the PC and Mac versions to play each the other. In other words that if you own an iOS device and your buddies are all on Android you can still play with them.
